The Yorkshire Dales is a large upland area spanning North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and Cumbria. It is a characteristic of the dales to be named after the river or stream which created them like Ribblesdale and Swaledale. The limestone nature of large parts of the dales has resulted in extensive cave systems, many of which are open to the public. The area is also renowned for its natural beauty and attracts millions of visitors every year. Hotels and guest houses are numerous, the main Yorkshire Dales towns being Settle, Skipton, Ilkley and Harrogate. Interspersed are numerous small villages connected by a criss cross of dry stone walls. Whether you are in the Yorkshire Dales on business or pleasure, use the map below to explore and find your ideal hotel. |
