Monmouthshire Tourist Attractions - Usk Castle Usk Castle is a Norman castle thought to have been founded by 1120. The civilian population which grew up around the fort remained until about 300 AD, latterly mainly occupied in the smelting of iron. The castle is one of a very few in Wales to be owned privately.
