Dove Cottage and the Wordsworth Museum
Visitors to Dove Cottage are offered a guided tour of the house where William Wordsworth wrote his most inspired poetry. He described it as a time of plain living but high thinking and produced his most creative work during the nine years in the cottage.

Alongside is the award winning Wordsworth Museum with extensive collections of original manuscripts and art works that interpret Wordsworth's life and that of his family and circle, including Coleridge, Sir Walter Scott and De Quincey. Special exhibitions are held in the museum throughout the year.

In the 3oW Gallery are challenging exhibitions of contemporary art which link to the same ideas which inspired Wordsworth and the Lake Poets. Rydal Mount and Gardens - Home to William Wordsworth
The Wordsworth Family moved into Rydal Mount in 1813 and rented the house continually for 46 years until the death of Mary Wordsworth in 1859. Rydal Mount was the largest house the Wordsworths lived in and became a much-loved family home.
