Natural History Museum, South Kensington
The winter sun catches the facade of the splendid Waterhouse Building, designed by Alfred Waterhouse in the romanesque style and opened in 1881 to house what was then the British Museum's rapidly expanding natural history collection. The museum as a whole has 70 million specimens ranging from fossils to a complete blue whale skeleton.
