Sutton
Hoo Archaeological Site Sutton Hoo is one of Britain's most important archaeological sites,
ranking in significance with Stonehenge in Wiltshire. The National Trust
has established a new exhibition housing a full-size reconstruction of the
ship's burial chamber from Mound 1 with its treasures as it may have been
on the day of burial. The Sutton Hoo Estate includes a substantial Edwardian
house and 103 hectares (254 acres) of grass-heath, salting and woodland on
the Deben estuary, as well as the burial grounds themselves. The visitor
centre is the place to find a gift, and for a cup of tea or a full meal.
Visit the Sutton
Hoo website for more information. |
