Pennines Attractions - Vindolanda Roman Fort
To the south of Hadrian's Wall is the fascinating Roman Fort of Vindolanda. Numerous buildings have recently been uncovered with resulting finds of unusual and well preserved artifacts from the Roman world. In the site museum, set in charming gardens, you can see Roman boots, shoes, armour, jewellery and coins. On the site itself stands a full size replica of a section of Hadrian's Wall in both stone and timber, giving the visitor a true idea of the impressive might of the monument.
