South Stack Lighthouse
South Stack Lighthouse was constructed in 1809 on the north west coast of Anglesey as a warning beacon to passing vessels of the treacherous rocks below. This spectacular lighthouse, with its difficult decent, is now open to the public after thirteen years of closure.

South Stack Cont.
Though the trip to the lighthouse is worthwhile, please be aware that it is 400 steps down from the headland to the lighthouse and, more importantly, it is 400 steps to get back UP again! Guided tours up to the lighthouse itself are available though no more than 12 persons will be allowed into the lighthouse area at any one time.

Don't miss the nearby South Stack RSPB visitor centre - with good seasonal views of cliff bird colonies: guillemot: razorbill; puffin (spring is the best time for viewings). There is a restaurant nearby. From South Stack you can climb Holyhead mountain with stunning views of Anglesey.
